Finmin: National Wealth Fund rises to 12.67 tln rbl in June
MOSCOW, Jul 5 (PRIME) -- The National Wealth Fund increased by 317.124 billion rubles in June to 12.67 trillion rubles, or 8.4% of gross domestic product (GDP), as of July 1, and fell by U.S. $7.521 billion to $145.578 billion, the Finance Ministry said on Wednesday.
Of the sum, 7.279 billion euros, 282.284 billion Chinese yuan, 400.4 million rubles, and 511.987 tonnes of gold were collected on the accounts in the central bank, and 653.022 billion rubles were deposited at state development corporation VEB.RF.
The fund’s 697.875 billion rubles and U.S. $2.014 billion were invested in the securities of Russian companies linked to self-financing infrastructural projects, and 328.992 billion rubles in preferred shares of credit organizations. In addition to that, 38.434 billion rubles were placed on deposits with VTB Bank and Gazprombank in order to finance self-financing infrastructural projects.
The fund’s 2.705 trillion rubles were invested in the ordinary shares of top bank Sberbank, 100.73 billion rubles in the ordinary shares of flagship air carrier Aeroflot, 137 billion rubles in the ordinary shares of national housing development institution DOM.RF, and 467 billion rubles in the preferred shares of Russian Railways.
Besides, 58.334 billion rubles of the National Wealth Fund were invested in the shares of State Transport Leasing Company (STLC), and 2.299 billion rubles in the bonds of Ural Airlines.
The ministry said that the combined income from investment in the financial assets, excluding the money and metals on the central bank’s accounts, amounted to 303.702 billion rubles in 2023, an equivalent of $3.626 billion.
The Finance Ministry also said that it sent 66.979 billion rubles from the National Wealth Fund to cover budget deficit in June, selling 3.452 billion Chinese yuan and 5.127 tonnes of gold.
